It is natural to look forward as we walk. When it is dark or the turrain is uneven, we become afraid of injury and look down. This changes the equalibrium (balance but I have a thing for big words) of the entire body and makes the work a lot more time and effort consuming. To release this habbit you have to let your feet see the ground for your eyes and that is done simply by closing your eyes and slowly (30 breaths a step) walking in any location you are comfortable to start in. Lift your leg from your center and check with your foot (part by part toes, ball, heel and for that to work the foot has to be relaxed too) each time if you have enough support for the body before you land your mass there. Be aware of the eye muscles even when your eyes are closed and relax the muscles in your face.
