One way to free yourself is by limiting. Hitting a tense area knowingly as the shoulders can help you become aware and relax as you exhale the tension through the mouth and collent it in the inhale toward the exhale. Another way is to tie your shoe laces together and move around and see how you manage. Hold hand in hand and move those around to see how the combined tension can increase and sometimes decrease the overall performance. To feel the tension in the back for example you can simply hold your hands together at the lower back and squat while keeping the legs pointing forward and the torso aligned towards the sky.
