Many times we design a drill to work a certain way. Scientists make changes to experiments in order to reach a wanted outcome and that is a dangerous path to travel. In order to truely know ourselves and see things as they are we need to keep our minds and hearts open. A strong front is good at times but in order to stay alive we must learn and change. Keep your practice open and allow people to improvise and create there own solutions. For example. Have a person lie on the ground and one or more are pushing him down as he tries to get up. First do it without strikes to allow some tension free play and learning and later add strikes (legs and body too) to make things more real. grabing clothes is also an option 🙂 Another drill would be to do the same thing with a knife. First standing corne a person to a corner and down using the entire knife (blade guard if you have any pommel and so on) and than see if you can motivate people into positons you need for example raising their shirts to see if there is anything under there. (do not do this unless there is some trust in the group. Be mindfull people can get hurt in ways not seen)
