A few drills. Take a stick and a partner and have him come at you with the stick held like a pool cue and have him jab the stick from time to time. Your goal is to become aware to this ability of the stick to move on one plane as it remains almost unseen to you. A spot does not change it’s size much in small distances so you have to pay attention to everything to dodge and work with these attacks. For the attacker I suggest avoiding the head at first. You can easily take out an eye and that is unpleasant to both parties.

Have one guy stand in the middle of the room where you are or outside and have him close his eyes. You come at him as one or by any tactic you choose and he can work the minute he senses the attack. In this drill pay attention to your intention. People can feel your intent to harm them and it increases the tension instead of calming people to the normal. With your eyes closed you will begin to feel more of the other senses and this is a key to survival and better living overall.

A drill from Mikhail: One person lies on the floor and the other rolls over him. Next the person is on all fours and you climb him from the prone position keeping a low silhouette and roll. Next you do the same as the person is hunched and so on. This is good on all levels as you are working with the person and yourself and the ground as one. Another thing you may want to add after a first run of this drill is to have the building shake from time to time to add some more learning here.
