Sharon Friedman – Vigilance and Tranquility

As teachers we learn a lot from our students and it is important to say this out loud and to have them do the same. Do any drill with them and have one or two stand aside and offer their thoughts on the drill such as you should not stop moving when a knife is in the way even if you think your position is good or you should not crash on the floor with your fingers hard and spread as you can break them on uneven surfaces and so on. This will give them a great opening to see themselves and others with more simpathetic and humurous eyes and to be better people.
