A good advice from the forum is to press your tounge to the roof of your mouth when your airway is under pressure. This is good on many levels due to the mental distraction and actual action taken (proactive) and also for the physical protection the wall of muscle the tounge creates to back up the throat when in a choke hold or when you jump from a plane from high altitudes when there is a swift shift in air pressure. This shift can create panic and disorientation but you alerady know how to handle that.
