After a long march or heavy loads the spring in your step can go dormant and to wake it up and bring out the power of the tendons in the hips you can start by walking on the heels and being pushed by walking on the heels which eliminates the foot in the balancing act and force the knees and hips to relax and align and return to a more awaken state and follow this by lightly jumping on all the parts of the feet from the toes to the heels as you mind to keep the sound and impact to the minimum.
Walking with a straight back and changing your height up and down slowly and the sailors walk are also drills that can help in this task and you need to choose what is best for you at any given moment in time.

And smile.
