Once you did this for a while try to work with one or two eyes closed and see if more focus comes into play.
Place your palm on your partners chest and have him strike you slowly. Feel his movement through the contact and move so you are not hurt. Remember to choose your action rather than react and to keep relaxed. Have him work on hitting you without resorting to the right left pendulum so you don’t develop expectations and learn to move freely. Next move your hand or place your fist at his hip and repeat the drill. You can also use your legs with pushing and standing with feet touching to do this awareness drill.
