It is infinity easy to corrupt ourselves with sophistication. Do it this way or else you are missing the point and so on.
In order to make one perfect vase or one perfect stroke of the sword, we must get it a little bit right and a whole lot of wrong thousands of times and during all seasons as each stroke of the pen or sword is completed or abandoned by someone altered by the previous stroke.
This is one of many reasons I place high importance on the mundane and overlooked. Inside what we do daily, lies both our frame and alterations as stated before by Emperor Aurelius.
Drills:
1. Place a book on the top of your head and sit down and get up 10 times on one prolonged exhale.
2. Have a partner walk around you and push you at their own volition 10 times as you keep your eyes closed. As you are touched, exhale and relax to the ground and back up. Note all your senses and feel with your skin what is around you. With proper interpretation, our senses are better than wild guesses and we need experience to learn how to interpret.
3. Hold a practice knife and place it concealed on your body. Walk in a line and have a partner push you from behind. Allow the push to move through you as you position yourself to draw the knife and use your senses to assess the situation. Your partner should be wise to present you with a threat during a portion of the contacts.
4. Take a heavy mass such as a training partner or iron mass such as KettleBells and place them on your body in a way where the bones support the mass. Use continuous breath to lie down and get up 10 times and aim to breath continuously and move without bracing outside of what is required to move the mass.
5. Place yourself on your fists and toes. Move forward 10 steps, move sideways 10 steps, move backwards 10 steps and move to the beginning point in 10 steps. Repeat while focusing on moving from the body and using less and less breaths to complete each square.
6. Place yourself on your fists and toes with your hips facing upward. Shift your body and mass forward and backwards from front to bottom and then from side to side and then in circles going both left and right. Spread your limbs to the sides and ease your way using your breath as rhythm into greater ability to express yourself through controlled movement.
