The field of medicine is quickly becoming that of either generalization or specificity. When the knowledge base becomes very broad and there is so much to go through to become good at everything people tend to prefer a specific skill and avoid general knowledge which takes away from their skill building time. In Systema and martial arts as a whole if you become good at one thing than you carry over what you have learned to other fields as well. Since we are working with principles we can benefit from becoming very good with a stick and becoming very good using a sword or our arms from it. If you are limited by time and most of us are doing the work we are practicing and learning for than it can help to choose to focus on becoming good at a small number of things and gather some general understanding from them to the field of invention and intuition. Alternate from time to time but remember that to understand is better than to practice without thought.
