One month of brain development

One of the easiest and swiftest ways to develop better thinking and inventiveness is the buildup of the bridge between left and right brain.

How can we do so ? Change sides

Here are ten changes that if you keep for a month will build a better bridge between left and right cortex.

  1. Brushing teeth – Stand on one leg and brush with the other hand.
  2. Opening doors – Stand opposite to your regular stance (mirror the angle) and open the door with the other hand.
  3. Dressing and undressing – Each hand has it’s roll in buttoning buttons and so on. Switch hands and dress yourself in opposite fashion. Put the other boot on first. Change the role of each hand in lacing your boots and so on.
  4. Writing – use the other hand not just to write but to draw and paint. This evokes use of a broader array of areas in the brain and helps create new connections.
  5. Shower time – switch the parts of the hands and keep your footing stable as slipping in the shower is a high role skill.
  6. Sprint run – Everyone has their favorite starting leg or position to speed up into a sprint. Switch it up and practice short sprints three times a week.
  7. Throw the ball – Take a friend and throw the ball back and forth using the second hand and using an opposing stance to the one used in regular throws. When training alone, use a wall that does not support china glass displays.
  8. Twist – Power generation and torque is another measure to use. An example would be to use wrenches, screwdrivers and the like with the opposing hand and even pushing the pedals of a machine with the opposing leg when safety is kept.
  9. Eyes wide shut – Close your dominant eye and practice juggling while walking around the non glass parts of the mansion.
  10. No eyes – take a task you usually do with one side of the body without looking. An example can be tying your shoes or tucking in your shirt at the back and switch which side handles it. The same goes for the order of actions that demand both sides. Changing the rhythm can help a lot in learning ourselves to a deeper level.
